Each fortnight, we're joined by local experts who share their insider knowledge of the place they have chosen to call home. We explore their personal connection to the destination, what makes it so special and the best things to see and do.

Episode 1. Paris
Kicking off season 6 with a bang, we return to one of the world’s most visited cities: Paris. Culture and travel journalist Lindsey Tramuta joins us to go beyond the traditional postcard image of Paris, discovering the innovators, creatives and local businesses that are shaping the city’s lesser-explored neighbourhoods.
Tune in to hear how experimental chefs are bringing new flavour to traditional dishes, how upstart baristas are overturning the city’s poor coffee reputation and how preparations for the 2024 Olympics are going (swimming in the Seine, anyone?).Episode 2. Japan
In the second episode of season 6, we head to Japan with travel writer and photographer Todd Fong. Together we get off the beaten path and explore the full extent of what these immensely varied islands have to offer – think historic hamlets of thatched roofed houses, scenic sea-crossing cycle routes and neighbourhoods that transport you back to the Tokyo of 50 years past.
Tune in for the joys of Japanese craft gin, advice for your first onsen visit, tips to make your yen go further and myth busting about Fukushima…Episode 3. Bangkok
It's time we visit the Thai capital. With Dane Halpin we explore the contrasts of a city that is simultaneously traditional and modern, frenetic and serene. Join us for a mouth-watering foodie tour, an eye-opening street art trail and an unmissable festival that keeps locals cool in the scorching summer months…Episode 4. Winter 2023
James and Lucy are joined by the DK Eyewitness team to discuss their favourite winter destinations. From Moorish marvels in Andalucia to the aurora borealis in Iceland, Dan Stables gives us the lowdown on Europe's hottest winter spots. Next, Leila Siddiqui proves the US is the place to be this season – whether you prefer exhilarating winter sports or hunting down hearty comfort food. Finally, Zoë Rutland reveals the cosy side of Seoul and an unmissable festival in Hokkaido.Episode 5. Denmark
This episode we’re off to Denmark, home of some of the happiest people on earth, progressive politics and cutting-edge design. Returning guest and travel writer Allan Mutuku-Kortbæk takes us on a whirlwind tour of this beautiful country and inspires us to embrace the Danish lifestyle.
Episode 6. Chicago
This week native Chicagoan and lifestyle journalist Ari Bendersky sets us straight about the USA’s so-called Second City. With its astounding architecture and treasure-laden Art Institute, iconic sports teams and sprawling Lake Michigan shoreline, Chicago sits in no city’s shadow. As if that’s not enough to boast about, the Windy City's wonderfully diverse neighbourhoods offer virtually every cuisine you can imagine – from Chinese to Chilean, Korean to Cambodian, Venezuelan to Oaxacan.Episode 7. Prague
With more pretty buildings and breath-taking views than you can shake a stick at, Prague has been dazzling visitors for the better part of a millennium. Travel and comedy writer Joseph Reaney takes us through the iconic sights, advising how best to enjoy them without the crowds. Then we explore some more niche spots in the city and surrounding areas, including a grisly chapel made from human bone. Of course, it would be a sin to discuss Prague without discussing beer. After all, this is the home country of Pilsner and the original Budweiser lager.Episode 8. Egypt
Hosting a mind-boggling array of monuments, Egypt is a historical destination on the grandest scale. The towering Pyramids of Giza and hieroglyphic-rich tombs of the Valley of the Kings may be the country’s main calling card, but today’s guest Monica Gerges shows us there is far more to the country than its ancient bounty. We discuss everything from the delightful chaos of culture-rich Cairo to the rainbow reefs of the Red Sea and the serene hot springs of the Siwa Oasis.Get in touch
