“I’M INTERESTED IN NON-FICTION IDEAS THAT APPEAL TO DEDICATED FANDOMS AND SPECIAL INTERESTS.”

Pete Jorgensen, Senior Acquisitions Editor, DK+, Pop Culture

I commission books covering all facets of popular culture, from music to Internet culture, film, the occult, hobbies and beyond. Sport is a key area for growth. I’m interested in non-fiction ideas that appeal to dedicated fandoms and special interests, where imagery acts to enhance the text.

Giftability is a key consideration, whether it’s an impulse buy tied to a seasonal moment or pop-culture trend, or higher price point titles that are expertly researched and use the best illustration talent. I take any excuse to wheel out the finishes on books!

A book I’m proud of…

My favourite book I’ve published recently at DK is Machines by Dominic Chinea. It encompasses what my list is about – informative and accessible content, an expert author with a dedicated audience and put together in a highly giftable package.

A book I wish I’d published…

I wish I had published Paul McCartney’s The Lyrics. I love how it works on several levels with no one element taking precedence – it’s an autobiography, songbook and photography book all in one. The content is uncompromisingly comprehensive, yet totally accessible to both the casual Beatles listener and the lifelong fan.
