DK RED
I am interested in commercial self-help/ personal development, popular psychology, family and relationship books and memoir-driven narratives that carry universal takeaways for everyday life. I am on the look-out for authors who write with authority and warmth and above all, share our passion for helping others live fuller, richer lives.
A book I'm proud of...
I acquired Lessons from a Default Parent by Lou Beckett while pregnant with my first child and its message shaped much of how my husband and I talk about our parenting (he is never "babysitting" his own child). That it became an instant Sunday Times bestseller while I was on maternity leave was icing on the cake. How to Make Your Brain Your Best Friend by Rachel Barr also deserves a mention, not only for becoming an instant Irish Times bestseller but for the way it blends hard-hitting neuroscience with a narrative that feels as welcoming as having a coffee with your mate.
A book I wish I'd published...
Why Has Nobody Told Me This Before by Dr Julie Smith, Addicted to Anxiety by Owen O'Kane, The Book You Want Everyone You Love to Read by Philippa Perry, Are You Mad at Me? by Meg Josephson, Mad Girl by Bryony Gordon and Careless People by Sarah Wynn-Williams.
