DK LIFE
The books I am most drawn to as an editor – and as a reader – are books that teach us something about ourselves and the world around us; books that have the potential to change the reader’s life in a big or small way.
I’m on the look-out for authors and books to publish with passion: ground-breaking popular psychology, upmarket self-improvement/personal development, health and wellness, and beautifully crafted memoirs with a clear wellbeing angle. I would love to hear about authors who bring an audience with them, and I am particularly keen to publish expert-led books. Platform, profile and personal connections are equally important.
A book I‘m proud of…
How to Make Your Brain Your Best Friend is a guide to the most remarkable thing in the known universe: the brain. It looks at how our brains are designed to protect us but can sometimes seem to work against us. It’s superbly written by neuroscientist Rachel Barr, a brilliant communicator and trusted expert with an audience of over a million on Instagram alone. It was an instant Irish Times and Globe and Mail bestseller on publication.

Books I wish I’d published…
Books I would love to have published on the DK RED list include Wintering by Katherine May, Four Thousand Weeks by Oliver Burkeman, The Wim Hof Method, Quiet by Susan Cain, A Beginner's Guide to Dying by Simon Boas, The Madness of Grief by Richard Coles and Want by Gillian Anderson.
