I’m seeking submissions that share this spirit, be it self-improvement that offers a crash course in living better, popular psychology/philosophy that helps us unlock our potential, or nature writing with a wellbeing angle that recentres the soul. If it’s written by an expert, offers a unique perspective on how we live and makes me see myself – and the world – differently, I want to read it.
A book I’m proud of…
I’m so excited to be publishing Counting Penguins in October, charting travel writer Peter John Watson’s life-changing experience as a wildlife monitor at Port Lockroy in Antarctica. By documenting three months living among a thousand penguins and only a handful of humans, Peter offers a meditation on what it means to truly slow down and see the world. Spending time among animals has the power to change us for the better, and this is an exquisite reminder that the smallest observations often lead to the greatest transformations.
A book I wish I'd published...
Oliver Burkeman’s brilliant Meditations for Mortals is the permission we all need to calm our minds and embrace life to the full. It’s such an accessible and liberating antidote to the “productivity trap” we all exist in, and a reminder that you don’t need to overhaul your life to change your mindset; rather, shifting your mindset will change your life. Reading it felt like releasing a breath I didn’t realise I was holding.
