Canelo, originally founded in 2015 but now proudly part of DK, is a vibrant and ambitious list at a moment of exciting transformation and reinvigoration.

As an independent publisher for ten years we were always striving for excellence in every function – here we find that in abundance, with new colleagues adding incredible value, bolstering our already brilliant original team. The passion and enthusiasm for our books, and the welcome our titles have received, is second-to-none. Opportunities for our writers are being explored and embraced at pace, but with great skill and care.

We have an ever-widening range of fiction and non-fiction, chiefly fuelled by our acclaimed and bestselling imprints:

• Canelo Crime: A leader in gripping crime, thriller, and mystery novels. 
• Hera Books: An imprint focused on commercial and inclusive fiction.
• August Books: Our newest addition, publishing quality non-fiction for curious readers. 

We also publish successfully into romance, historical sagas, horror, and historical adventure. Our amazing authors are central to everything we do, with emerging names now reaching significant sales milestones. These include:
