Canelo

"I am passionate about marrying [diversity and representation] with my love of romance fiction."

Pauli Roos, Commissioning Editor, Canelo

I am looking to acquire contemporary romance with fresh takes on established tropes, whether sport workplace, western/cowboy, holiday as well as dark romance and something that will make readers cry.

I joined Canelo in 2025, making the move from non-fiction at Jessica Kingsley Publishers to the world of romance and saga fiction. JKP shaped my thinking about the importance of diversity and representation, and is something I am passionate about marrying with my love of romance fiction. I feel like I got the dream job that a million girls wanted and am so lucky to make a living out of reading love stories.

A book I’m proud of…

Head Over Skis was my first acquisition at Canelo and has a special place in my heart. The novel is so much more than a transportive holiday romance, and does exactly what the best genre fiction does – addresses some complex themes of being alive today, like having aging parents and jealous partners,  while still giving us hope and joy.

A book I wish I'd published...

A book I would have loved to publish is Nightshade by Autumn Woods. I adore a fast-paced read with high-stakes and yearning which this novel has no shortage of. I remember being in my twenties desperately wanting protagonists my own age, so I am a huge fan of new adult romance!
