DK LIFE
It’s been a transformative year for DK Life – with an expanded and properly exceptional commissioning team, substantial market share gains across our focus categories, a record number of Sunday Times bestsellers, and an ever-more stellar slate. As our growth continues, we are actively seeking to extend our investment in brilliant books that will resonate with readers everywhere. And we are uniquely positioned to publish into every market, channel, and format – worldwide, where possible – with real expertise, initiative, and brio.
Here’s the gist on who is publishing what in the year ahead:
Richard Atkinson has assembled a distinctive, imaginative, and truly extraordinary set of acquisitions for PAPER SAILOR. The voyage begins in Spring 2027 with a launch list that spans the good things in life: food and drink; beauty and joy; the practical, the inspirational, the remarkable.
Dan Hurst has arrived to lead our core lifestyle publishing – with an ambitious brief to significantly bolster our FOOD & DRINK programme (for which he’ll acquire directly) and support the growth of our HEALTH & HOME list, which encompasses craft, MBS, health, and more and is handled by Kiron Gill.
Under Ruth O’Rourke’s direction, our GARDENING list has not only maintained its number one rank but also grown its share from approximately a quarter of the market to nearly a third (Nielsen TCM), while continuing to publish debuts alongside the established, and innovate with trends, treatments, and formats.
Our narrative non-fiction imprint DK RED, led by Fritha Saunders, has enjoyed its first bestsellers, tripled its commissioning firepower with the return of Elizabeth Neep and the addition of Zoë Rutland, and broadened its remit – adding popular science and nature writing to health, popular psychology, and self-help.
